Only live picture I’ve found of the ship (click for large photo)
i FOUND MY GREAT GREAT GRANDFATHER AND MY GRETAT GRANDFATHER AND GREAT UNCLE’S ENTRANCE TO OUR GREAT COUNTRY. THEY ARRIVED ON THE S.S. SPAIN
MARCH 28TH 1881. THEY WERE GERMANS WHO CAME THOUGH ENGLAND.THE LAST NAME IS KLEMMER
My great grandparents, Nicolas & Elisabeth Rausch, also arrived from Trier, Germany on 28 March 1881! What a rare coincidence, Mr. Klemmer!
Thanks for the information on the boat. I’ve always wondered what it looked like.
Please advise me as to how I can access the passenger list for the SS Spain 1872. The ship arrived in April 1872.
My family was on the same boat to America. I have pictures of all the people involved. Incredibly, one of them lived until 1977 when she was over 100 years old, and was probably the last surviving person from the voyage.
Oh wow, do you have a scanned copy?
